Right Here Right Now

today-moment

Nowadays the phenomenon of people physically being in one place and mentally in another is irritatingly often. People meet with their friends and family, or partners and instead of enjoying the right here and right now they let their mind wander through irrelevant thoughts. They bring in mind the things they did or didn’t do during the day, or the obligations they have and even their to do lists. Not only from a social, but from a personal perspective as well this is extremely harmful for everything you do. You first ought to your self and then to others your undivided attention.

Whatever it is that you do, reading a book, talking with friend, or even watching a movie don’t let all those conversations develop in your head. Live the moment, don’t judge, criticize, or comment on anything, most important on yourself, at the time anything happens. Save your breath and enjoy the moment. This technique is gonna save you a lot of trouble and It will enable you to be fully present. Enjoy!

Do you catch your mind fly away while you ‘re doing something else and did you bring it back to your head? Let me know on the comments below!

Why I created this blog

About one and a half year ago, I found myself spending the night at Viennα airport, until my fligh for Athens was ready to go in the next morning. I had plenty of luggage, but no space for books. I needed something to keep me company in the long hours. So, I enterd the first, and probably the only one, bookstore that there was and while moving in a clupmsy style between the narrow corridors I saw a book that made a difference to me. I would say it was the colors of its cover. Vivid blue and strong yellow, and its size, just delightful. Light and small, but wide enough to fit into my palms. The title of it: The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin.

The book was delivered to me by a grumpy and rude cashier-woman in a perfect, transparent, plastic bag. I immediately found a comfortable spot, somewhere in the middle of the airport. I sat down on a semicurcular, brown, leather sofa and started to read greadily. This was the first book I had ever read about happiness. This book was the result of Gretchen Rubin’s experiment. An expirement on how she changed her everyday life and cultivated more happiness in it. She complited twelve resolutions, one for every month, and after she did the trick, she was sharing her experience with us. This was completely fantastic! I had totally set the mood for my little happiness projects. I was at aese, while spending a tiring night with other sleepless people.

Gretchen’s language is direct and true and her book isn’t a self-help book with a ready-made formula for you to follow. She talks about her own personal growth and encourages her audience to take action in their own way to improve their lifes. She is the living examlpe that one holds their fate in their own hands, an opinion which I wholeheartedlly agree with. It gave me so much pleasure and insight that I was carryng it with me for weeks after I had finishe reading. I was transfering it from one bag into another, as I was changing outfits and travelling around the world. It was also no coincidence that it has been a #1 New York Times Best Seller and International Best Seller.

So, now you know, this books has been my personal fire-starter on finding the power to explore the happiness within me. In addition, I’ll be sharing my thoughts and knowledge on the subject, here, in this amazing blog! Thank you Gretchen and thank you for being here.

Now I’m talking to you, yes you! You must be pretty awesome since you ‘re here already! I would like to hear your story. What has been the first trigger for you to start looking for the happiness within? Let me know in the comments below. I’m very much interested.
